Chris Thompson (BHlthSc, BBus (Acc), FCPA, GAICD) is a Sustainability consultant and Governance and Finance specialist with over 20 years of experience in Executive and Finance roles across the Health, University and Natural Resource Management sectors and 2 years experience in sustainability consulting.
I have a proven track record of delivering improved environmental business performance for organisations and the environment. I have successfully led changes in organisations, redesigned business systems, developed and managed budgets, overhauled governance frameworks, increased sustainability practices and developed insightful reporting for research, health, and natural resource management organisations. I have also performed the duties and functions of the chief financial officer, led and mentored teams and individuals, and promoted positive workplace culture. I am passionate about helping organisations meet their sustainability goals and manage their corporate governance compliance burden. My superpowers are improving organisational finance and governance, skills which I bring to the sustainability consulting space.
As I have worked extensively in senior positions within government and companies, I have an appreciation of the organisational finance and governance challenges and business needs.
Through my work experience and formal coaching training, I have experience in coaching and mentoring individuals who want to grow and develop their careers or workplace skills. I pride myself on being a solutions-based coach and mentor.
Organisations that I have worked for include Ramsay Health Care, Deakin University, the Australasian Research Management Society, Goulburn Broken Catchment Management Authority, Mallee Catchment Management Authority, North East Catchment Management Authority and the Corangamite Catchment Management Authority.
I am a solutions focussed and actions based professional. I first meet with the client to understand what success in environmental business performance or governance would look like and provide them a draft scope of works to confirm their needs and budget.
During engagement, I provide regular updates on progress and, at works end, ensure outcomes are met with a close out discussion with the client.
2 years ago I founded FCThree Services as I saw an opportunity to really embed sustainability into Organisational Finance and Governance to accelerate environmental business performance. I saw time and again that finance and governance could either be a blocker or an enabler to an organisation improving its environmental business performance. I wanted to support the later noting that organisations in the most part did have the intention but lacked the capacity or know-how to embed sustainability.
Over the last 2 years I have accelerated my own understanding of environmental sustainability frameworks, reporting standards and governance/finance approaches to achieving organisational goals and meeting compliance obligations.
In everything we do, FCThree Services believes that Organisations can have a positive impact on the environment and in doing so it is good for their business.
Good for business means:
The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, adopted by all United Nations Member States in 2015, provides a shared blueprint for peace and prosperity for people and the planet, now and into the future. There are the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which are an urgent call for action by all countries - developed and developing - in a global partnership.
FCThree Consulting Services, through its services aims to align with and contribute to the acheivement of following Sustainability Development Goals:
Goal 5 - Gender Equality
Goal 7 – Affordable and Clean Energy
Goal 12 – Responsible Production and Consumption
Goal 13 – Climate Action
